Testosterone is controlled by the pituitary gland via hormone signals sent from the pituitary to the testes of men where the hormone is produced. This hormone is responsible for the development and growth of the male sexual organ, including secondary male features such as facial hair growth and deepness of the voice. Other functions of Testosterone include maintaining the level of red blood cells in the body and bone density.

Testosterone plays a role in the health of both men and women, although it is obviously more prominent in males. In both sexes, it supports sexual desire and function, as well as strength and metabolism. Testosterone is the only reason why men have more muscle mass than women, for example. Testosterone also preserves cardiovascular health as well as bone mineral density.

Testosterone Levels Fade as Men Grow Older

Like other hormones, Testosterone production slows down when a person ages. At the age of 30, men suffer from the decline of Testosterone levels resulting in common symptoms such as reduced libido, low self-confidence, emotional and mood problems, mental degradation and erectile dysfunction. Testosterone decline can also happen in men under 30 with common causes including testicle infections, radiation from chemotherapy, genetic make-up, stress, alcoholism and diseases like Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome (AIDS).

All men experience age-related Testosterone decline, but individual factors affect that decline. For example, obesity suppresses Testosterone production, because adipose fat cells have the ability to convert Testosterone into Estrogen. Men with sedentary lifestyles produce less Testosterone because exercise stimulates the release of Testosterone.

Today low levels of Testosterone in the body can be easily treated through Testosterone Replacement Therapy (TRT). A physician can test a patient's Testosterone levels and give a prescription to allow the injection of Testosterone necessary to restore those levels to a pre-decline state. Decreased muscle mass, fluctuation of cholesterol metabolism, osteoporosis and hair loss are very common symptoms of a person who suffers from low Testosterone.

There are a number of options that can be considered in Testosterone Replacement Therapy. The original form of Low-T treatment came in the form of Testosterone injections, which are still used and are still quite effective today. There are also Testosterone creams that are massaged daily into the skin. Similar to creams, there are transdermal Testosterone patches that are applied to the skin and deliver Testosterone slowly over the course of 22-24 hours.

A few lesser-known Testosterone products that are highly effective are Testosterone pellets/implants, which are surgically implanted underneath the skin, Buccal Testosterone, which is an oral patch and Sublingual Testosterone, which is absorbed underneath the tongue.

Talk to a Specialist to find out which Testosterone Treatment is Right for You!

It is very important to consult with a physician to find the best option for you. Every form of Testosterone therapy has its own benefits and drawbacks, and you should talk to your doctor about which form of Testosterone treatment meets your needs most effectively. Some men may get the most benefit out of combination Testosterone therapy with Human Chorionic Gonadotropin (HCG) or Arimadex. HCG supports the normal function of the testes, while also promoting fertility. Arimadex suppresses some side effects associated with increased Estrogen levels which sometimes occur as a result of therapy.

Testosterone Replacement Therapy is a good solution to avoid the effects of Testosterone decline within the human body.
